Habitat Metro Denver would like to recognize Habitat Helpers—a coalition of Catholic, Baptist and non-denominational churches—for their continued partnership with Habitat. This dedicated group is made up of representatives from four congregations in the Denver Metro area, and has supported Habitat’s mission since 2005, when it became a partner coalition.
Habitat Helpers were proud to partner with Donna and Christopher’s family to construct their Habitat home. This is their story.
Donna and Christopher are proud parents of two sons and one daughter and always worked hard to provide for their family and give the brightest possible future to their kids. Donna worked as a para-educator for the Jefferson County Public School District while Christopher was a full-time maintenance technician at a local real estate company.
The couple felt stuck in their overcrowded apartment due to skyrocketing rental rates in metro Denver. They worried about their safety in their old neighborhood and dreamed of having adequate space for their family of five, who shared a small apartment.
By partnering with Habitat Metro Denver and the Habitat Helpers, Donna and Christopher built their current home in Habitat’s College View Community. They now have affordable and consistent mortgage payments that provide financial security for their entire family.
“We are really excited about having somewhere to call home now,” wrote Donna. “My family has stability and a safe neighborhood to live in.”
“Something else I am very excited about is that my children now always have clean clothes because we have our own washer and dryer, instead of using the community one at our old apartment which was very unreliable,” Donna shared.
The additional benefits of owning their own home are not lost on the family. “My kids love having a brand-new home with a backyard,” Donna shared. “We are most excited as we continue to make this house our home, creating my dream garden, owning a pet, and making lasting memories.”
Thank you Habitat Helpers for assisting one more family in reaching their dream of a safe, affordable home.

Each donation is a true blessing in the eyes of the family who gets one step closer to their dream of homeownership and a better future for their children. All donations go directly to Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver and help Habitat Helpers reach their sponsorship goal.
