Meet DSST ReStore Intern Erick!

Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver ReStores is partnering with Denver School of Science and Technology (DSST) Public Schools’ Professional Internship Program to help high school students gain career exposure while building professional and transferable skills. Students are able to explore future career options before heading off to college, and they forge meaningful relationships with professionals and leaders across the city of Denver. For Erick he is dedicating six hours a week volunteering at the Littleton ReStore.

“I feel like I am making a difference because I get to help my fellow teammates, and Habitat has become a community to me,” Erick shares.

“This experience has helped me understand the maintenance of homeownership as well as customer service,” he shares. “Some advice I would give is to definitely sign-up for this internship because you learn so much and feel so good after helping out.”

During this 10-week-long internship, students are matched with organizations across Denver based on their interests and attend an onsite internship for 4-8 hours per week during the school day. Participants matched with Habitat Metro Denver will receive a Habitat t-shirt and an official letter of recognition to use for college applications or for their school club or graduation hours.
