SMS Privacy Policy and Terms

Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver, Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Affordable Mortgage Solutions, LLC and Colorado Community Land Trust, LLC (“HFHMD,” “Organization,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), comprise a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International (“HFHI”) and are considered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations by the Internal Revenue Service. Please note that all donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. The Organization’s tax identification number (TIN) is 74-2050021.

Habitat Metro Denver has established this Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”) to explain how we collect, use, and share personal information, whether through our website at www.habitatmetrodenver.org (the “Website”), other online channels, in-person events, or any other means (the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to be bound and abide by our Privacy Policy in effect at the time of use. This Policy and your use of the Services is subject to our Terms of Use. Do not access or use the Services if you do not agree with this Policy and the Terms. 

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will let you know by appropriate means such as by posting the revised policy on this page with a new “effective date” at the bottom of this Privacy Policy. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will become effective when posted unless indicated otherwise. 

Please note that each regional Habitat for Humanity affiliate in the United States and Canada (collectively the “Habitat Affiliates”) is a separate legal entity, governed by an independent board of directors, executive committee, or other governing body. Collection and processing of your personal information by each Habitat Affiliate is governed by their respective privacy policies, and each organization is solely responsible for its own collection and use of your personal information. 

1) Program Description

By opting in, you agree to receive SMS text messages from [Your Company Name] related to your interactions with us (conversational, service‑related communications) via Microsoft Teams SMS. This program is not intended for broadcast marketing.

2) How to Opt In

You may opt in by submitting a form, sending a keyword, providing written or verbal consent, or otherwise giving digital confirmation. We record and retain proof of consent as required by carriers and industry guidelines.

3) Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your interactions. If required by carriers, we disclose an estimated frequency (e.g., “up to X messages/month”) in the initial message. We limit messaging to essential communications.

4) HELP / STOP Commands

  • HELP: Reply HELP for assistance or contact us at privacy@habitatmetrodenver.org.
  • STOP/CANCEL: Reply STOP or CANCEL to opt out at any time. Opt‑out requests are processed immediately; you won’t receive additional messages unless you reply START to resubscribe.

5) Content Standards

We do not send messages containing adult content, hate speech, harassment, or promotions for alcohol, tobacco, firearms, or gambling. These categories are restricted/prohibited under Teams SMS policies and industry rules.

6) Charges & Carriers

Message and data rates may apply. Delivery of SMS messages can depend on your mobile carrier and device. Availability is limited to the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada per Microsoft Teams SMS coverage.

7) Data We Collect

  • Identifiers: Mobile phone number, name (if provided)
  • Messaging metadata: Opt‑in/opt‑out status, timestamps, message logs necessary for program operation
  • Preferences: Communication preferences you set with us
    These are standard elements recommended for SMS privacy disclosures.  

8) How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Deliver the SMS messages you requested
  • Manage HELP/STOP and opt‑in/opt‑out workflows
  • Operate, secure, and improve the SMS program
  • Meet carrier and legal compliance obligations (e.g., maintaining consent records)

9) Data Sharing with Third Parties

We do not sell or share your opt-in data or personal information.

10) Data Security

We employ administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (e.g., encryption, access controls) appropriate to the sensitivity of your information. Data is stored securely and used only for business‑related communications.

11) Data Retention & Deletion

We retain SMS data only as long as necessary for operational, legal, and compliance purposes, then delete or de‑identify it. You may request deletion subject to applicable laws and our legal obligations.

12) Your Choices

  • Opt‑Out: Reply STOP or CANCEL at any time.
  • Resubscribe: Reply START to resume messages after opting out.

13) Prohibited Use & Compliance

You agree not to misuse the SMS program and to comply with applicable laws and Microsoft’s SMS content policies. We may suspend messaging to maintain compliance (e.g., after an opt‑out).

15) Updates to This Page
