Is home repair with us right for you?

To qualify for Habitat Metro Denver’s home repair program, partners must have:

Need for repairs

You must show that your current home is in poor condition, is not energy efficient, or is unsafe.

Willingness to partner

All Habitat homeowners attend classes and invest volunteer hours to help with the home repair process.

Ability to pay

Future homeowners must be current on their mortgage and property tax payments, and be able to pay a portion of the repair costs.

Home Repair Program Steps

Here is a step-by-step overview of what to expect during Habitat’s home repair process. Click on each step to see details.
- Step 1: Confirm that you meet the program qualifications.

Applicants must:

  • Own and live in their home in the city and county of Denver as highlighted in the map below. Note that mobile homes do not qualify for this program.
  • Be current with their mortgage payments and property taxes. Note that reverse mortgages do not qualify for this program.
  • Be able to pay a portion of repair costs and earn income that stays within our income guidelines (shown below).
  • Have owned and lived in their home for at least one year.
  • Have an adequate homeowner insurance policy.
  • Demonstrate a need for housing repairs by showing that the current home is in poor condition, is not energy efficient, is unsafe, or does not meet city code.

Applicants must also show a willingness to partner by:

  • Meeting all deadlines during the application process.
  • Attending all required events, classes and meetings.
  • Completing all sweat equity hours before work begins on the home.
- Step 2: Meet the income guidelines

To qualify for a Habitat home repair, you must make less than the amount listed below per month for your household size.

3 Person Household                      $6,305

7 Person Household                      $8,690

8 Person Household                      $9,250
