Denver: Join Us in Voting Yes on 2O
By Heather Lafferty and Stefka Fanchi This April 4th, if Denver voters say vote yes on Ballot Measure 2O, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver and Elevation
Jen and Jackie and their three children are very excited to finally have a home to call their own when they purchase their Habitat home later this year. Jen works as a telecommunications technician to provide financially for their family as Jackie raises their two daughters and son, ages 5 to 12.
Jen and Jackie are struggling in their current home where the landlord has left water damage, a leaky sewer line, and a large hole in the front yard unattended. Despite these major problems, they still spend a large amount of their take home pay on rent and are especially vulnerable to rent hikes with a month-to-month lease.
“This home will provide us with financial stability that will help us provide for our children,” shares Jen, “We will have a better quality of life and we’re very excited to have a place to call our own!”
As a family, they’re all looking forward to having more rooms and personal space. Even beyond the house itself, Jen and Jackie are looking forward to being a part of the Habitat homeowner community. “We’re looking forward to living in a diverse neighborhood with more children for our kids to make friends with.”
