Wow… what a year 2020 has been so far! The pandemic, quarantines, and overhaul of how we live everyday life has been an adjustment for us all. Here at the Habitat ReStores, we’ve been adapting our operations… most notably closing our stores for 7 weeks this spring to deep clean and organize, changing our hours, limiting donations, and more.
With all changes, there also come opportunities. And we’re excited to share with you some of the new things you can find at our ReStores.
Senior & Military Day
Every Wednesday is now Senior and Military Day! Seniors (age 60+) and active and veteran members of the military can enjoy 20% off any white-tagged items every Wednesday. Senior and Military Discount Wednesdays are recurring sales days that have replaced our former 10% senior and military discount.
After a 3-month hiatus, we’re excited to announce that we’ve begun scheduling pick-up donations again!

Note that to help cover our transportation and handling costs, there is a $25 fee for donation pick ups.
We began accepting drop-off donations at all four ReStores in mid-May, and are still accepting these much-appreciated donations every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

If you’ve visited one of our ReStores in the past couple of months, you might have noticed that we have a big selection of brand-new furniture. With the disruptions we experienced to our donations program, we wanted to do something different in order to have a great selection of both new and used items for our customers.
Starting this year, we’ve begun purchasing brand-new furniture at wholesale prices. Because these items are brand new, the prices might look different than the bargain-priced, used furniture we also carry.
Our ReStores carry a wide variety of items that range from brand new to gently used. We strive to have a little something for everyone—whether you’re looking for a bargain $20 used couch or a brand-new sofa at a discount compared to retail. We’re constantly striving to balance pricing our items so that customers get a great deal, while also allowing us to fund our mission. Here’s an overview of our pricing guidelines:
- New Items: For our brand-new inventory that we purchase and assemble, we start our prices at 20% less than retail, but discounts can run as deep as 60% off.
- Used Items: For our donated items, we take age, quality and condition into consideration before setting a price.
We do our best to provide value and fair prices, but acknowledge that we don’t always get it right. Therefore, we also provide markdowns if items don’t sell right away. So if you’re keeping an eye on an item, check back frequently, because the price might drop over time.
