Meet Habitat Homeowner Crystal

Crystal is a Denver native who loves everything Colorado has to offer—especially the sunny weather. Although Crystal has lived in metro Denver all her life, she’s never been able to afford to purchase a home and plant roots in the community she’s always called home.

She current works a full-time job as an administrative assistant to support her growing family, including her 7-year-old daughter and future son, who is due this month.

Crystal and her daughter currently shared a 2-bedroom apartment in a high-crime neighborhood.

“I want to make sure my daughter is safe and her future is bright,” Crystal shares. “I have been saving as much as possible to someday fulfill my dream of homeownership.”

By partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver, Crystal has been able to purchase a new 3-bedroom home in Globeville. She knows that homeownership is going to make a big difference for her and her family, and she looks forward to the added responsibility and freedom it will bring. Her daughter is already planning to make her new bedroom her own.

Crystal’s journey to homeownership hasn’t been a short one. She first attended a Habitat information session four years ago, but didn’t qualify because of credit issues, which made her realize she wasn’t quite ready yet. Since then, Crystal has focused on fixing her credit and was thrilled to be accepted into the Homeownership Program when she reapplied earlier this year.

“Thank you to all the donors, supporters, volunteers and programs that are making mine and my children’s futures brighter,” Crystal shares.
