Many moderate-income families with the dream of homeownership are looking for practical guidance on how to save, invest, build credit, and access affordable lending options. Thanks to a partnership with KeyBank, Habitat Metro Denver is helping to meet that need.
In 2024, KeyBank awarded a generous $175,000 grant to Habitat Metro Denver to strengthen our homebuyer education program. This investment reflects Habitat’s and KeyBank’s shared belief that stable, affordable housing is critical to catalyzing generational transformation.
With this support, Habitat set out to create a more robust and impactful program, with the goal of equipping current and future homeowners with the knowledge and confidence to thrive.
One outcome of the partnership has been the creation of a new position — Homebuyer Guides. Staff members serving in this role provide personalized homebuyer support from selection through closing.
These guides now lead monthly one-on-one meetings, host Homeowner Information Sessions, and oversee the evolving education curriculum. Their work ensures that every Habitat homebuyer receives tailored guidance and is well-prepared for the responsibilities of homeownership.
This impact is reflected in the experiences of Habitat homebuyers themselves. “I learned so many things you don’t think about if you rent – like changing filters, watering plants, homeowners’ insurance, and looking for cracks,” shares Lonni, a first-time homebuyer. “I will be a better homeowner because of the classes. You can never learn enough.”
Thanks to KeyBank’s support, Habitat has launched new touchpoints with homebuyers, built meaningful engagement with homeowners, and enhanced the delivery of homeowner education to better meet their needs.
