Heather Lafferty to Transition CEO Role in 2023

Dear Habitat partners,

As we begin 2023, our team at Habitat Metro Denver is looking forward to another year of amazing work and growth. It will also be a time of change for me.

This year I will celebrate my fifteenth year as CEO of Habitat Metro Denver, and I believe now is the right time to begin the process of transitioning the organization to a new leader. Habitat’s work remains crucial in our community, but I believe my time as CEO is complete.

This decision comes after much thoughtful personal reflection and deep conversations with my family. While it will be hard to say goodbye to all my amazing colleagues here at Habitat, I am excited for this change. And, I am simultaneously committed to ensuring a smooth and successful transition to a new CEO.

I believe that it is healthy and important for organizations like ours to evolve and be shaped by various leaders, and now it is time for a new CEO to take the organization, mission and vision forward. I am confident Habitat will attract a highly qualified, determined, and passionate leader who will open new doors, inspire action, and build upon the strong foundation we have built.

My last official day will be May 4, 2023. I will have some availability to aid in the successful transition to our next CEO over the summer. We will share more about the position and the transition process in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, please know how deeply grateful I am for this amazing community – and how confident I am in the future of this organization.  I am incredibly proud of our team and the collective determination to expand our impact. Habitat is filled with talented and passionate leaders, and our future is bright. As an organization, we are clear about our values, financially healthy, aligned with innovative partners, and on-track to serve more people than ever before.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will always be a devoted donor, volunteer and advocate for this incredible organization and mission. Working towards a vision as bold as Habitat’s alongside people who are truly the best of humanity has been the honor of a lifetime.

With gratitude,

Heather
