Habitat Denver receives Energy Star Partner of the Year Award for the Ninth Year in a Row!

We are thrilled to announce that Habitat Metro Denver has once again received the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2023 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award! This year marks our ninth year as a sustained Excellence winner, demonstrating that we use energy-efficient building practices that ensure our homes are sustainable – for our homeowners and our planet.

This EPA honor highlights the fact that building ENERGY STAR certified homes is achievable! Habitat Metro Denver built 31 ENERGY-STAR-certified homes this past year, adding to a total of 360 certified homes we have built since we joined the program. To reduce energy consumption in Habitat homes, we install energy- and water-efficient appliances, high-efficiency lights, insulated windows, and advanced insulation.

We are proud to receive this award, and to share our commitment to building energy-efficient homes and promoting sustainable living practices. The following was shared by the EPA and ENERGY STAR upon the announcement of this year’s awards:

“This year’s ENERGY STAR awardees are finding ways to create jobs, reduce energy use, and cut greenhouse gas pollution,” said EPA Regional Administrator KC Becker.  “EPA applauds our new and longstanding partners as they continue to reduce our carbon footprint and improve health and the environment in communities throughout our region.  Our ability to meet the challenges posed by climate change will depend on the results of these ENERGY STAR partnerships.”

“For more than 30 years, EPA’s ENERGY STAR program has supported the transition to a clean energy economy by fostering innovation, jobs, and economic development, while protecting public health. ENERGY STAR-certified products, homes, buildings, and plants helped save American families and businesses more than 520 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and avoid $42 billion in energy costs in 2020 alone.”

We are proud to be making a difference in the lives of our homeowners and the environment, and we will continue our commitment to building sustainable communities in the future.
