Habitat Denver Partners with Denver Housing Authority to Build Townhomes in Mixed-Use, Mixed-Income Community Near Downtown

With affordable housing in Denver becoming more difficult to find, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver and the Housing Authority of the City and County of Denver (DHA) are partnering on an innovative new project that will provide additional affordable housing options in central Denver.  Once completed, DHA’s Mariposa District will include apartments, townhomes and flats, all built around a central retail plaza, community garden, rec center and park.  Habitat Metro Denver is constructing six townhomes in the Mariposa District as affordable homeownership opportunities on the 15-acre development.

Located minutes from downtown, the Mariposa District is a sustainable, healthy living, transit-oriented development that promotes quality urban living options located adjacent to the Santa Fe Arts District.  Mariposa provides mixed-income housing including market-rate, work-force, senior housing and affordable homeownership in the La Alma/Lincoln Park neighborhood, recently named one of the “Great Places in America” by the American Planning Association.

DHA staff will roll up their sleeves to help Habitat build the townhomes during a volunteer day on March 26th.  Media are invited to attend. Photo and interview opportunities will be available.
