THE HOMEOWNERSHIP PROCESS

Buying a Habitat Home in Littleton

Step 1: Review program qualifications
  • To purchase a Littleton home, applicants must make less than 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Your income level is based on your household size. To qualify, you must make less than the amount listed below for your household size. 
  • Applicants must be first-time homebuyer  
  • Applicants must have lived or worked in the Denver metro area for at least 6 months (Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson counties)

Step 2: Contact one of our lenders 
  • If you have reviewed the program qualifications and meet the basic requirements, please contact one of our lenders
  • You must receive a pre-approval letter from one of our lenders before moving on to the next step. 
Step 3: View homes for sale
Step 4: Submit your income eligibility forms
  • Once you have received a pre-approval letter from one of our lenders, a Habitat staff member will connect with you to provide the list of required documents and forms to be completed.  
  • Upon completion and submission of the packet, a Habitat staff member will review your materials to confirm your eligibility for the program.  
Step 5: Selection
  • Once your income eligibility forms are processed and you have been approved, you will receive a selection letter confirming you qualify for our program.   
  • Our homes are firstcome, firstserved. If all available homes have been committed to other selected buyers, you will be added to our waitlist and will be notified upon the release of new properties.  
Step 6: Partnership
  • After selection, you must attend an orientation held at Habitat headquarters. The orientation reviews the community land trust model, as well as the responsibilities of the homeowner.  
  • Additionally, all future buyers must take a first-time homebuyer course. Find a date and location near you: CHFA: Homebuyer Education
