City of Commerce City and Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver are partnering to conduct affordable home repairs that will increase the security, comfort, and safety of local homeowners. The partnership is part of Commerce City’s ACT Program (Advancing Commerce City Together), which leverages federal funding to enhance community well-being by improving infrastructure and livability. Through the program, more than 30 homeowners will receive critical home repairs by the end of 2025.

“These home repairs are part of a larger priority for our city – to increase longevity and livability for residents and help create a quality community for a lifetime,” said Alex Van Zante, policy analyst for the City of Commerce City.

The program will improve home livability for low- to moderate-income homeowners by providing critical repairs, such as updating fencing, siding, windows, doors, roofing, electrical systems, sidewalks, and paint. To qualify, homeowners must have a household income at or below 100% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Homeowners who live in Commerce City and are interested in applying for the program should visit c3gov.com/act and click on “Livability Improvements” for more information.

“This program will connect Habitat’s home repair expertise with the needs of homeowners in Commerce City, improving the livability and safety of homes in the community without putting a cost burden on homeowners,” said Jaime G. Gomez, CEO of Habitat Metro Denver.

Habitat Metro Denver has been partnering with low-income homeowners on affordable home repairs in the metro area since 2012. For homeowners with limited incomes, including retired and disabled residents, these home modifications are life-changing, providing increased weatherization, safety, security, and comfort. After home repairs, homeowners experience lower energy bills, renewed pride in their homes, and deeper connections to their neighbors.

Habitat relies on volunteers to support these home repairs. Interested volunteers can sign up here to be notified when the projects begin.
