AmeriCorps Week: Meet the National Civilian Community Corps

We celebrate AmeriCorps week every March, and this year, Habitat Metro Denver had the opportunity to host an AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) group, or AmeriCorps NCCC.

This AmeriCorps program engages 18- to 26-year-olds in team-based national and community service in the United States. NCCC provides members the opportunity to travel around the country and provide service to communities that need it most.

Our current NCCC group is the Water 3 Team, an NCCC group made up of 9 individuals from across the country who have come to Denver for three months of service.

“With NCCC, I have enjoyed stepping outside of my comfort zone, meeting new people, and experiencing new cultures,”

Habitat Metro Denver is hosting Water 3 Team in partnership with another affiliate, Habitat Blue Spruce in Evergreen, CO. While the members have been in Denver, they have done service in our ReStores, on our new construction and home repair construction sites, and in our production shop while also doing various service activities with Habitat Blue Spruce.

We enjoy hosting NCCC teams at Habitat Metro Denver to both provide a meaningful opportunity for service and support our construction and ReStore teams accomplish their goals.

“With Habitat for Humanity, I have enjoyed learning more of the ins and outs of constructing a house, made even more welcoming by the amazing and warm staff and state/national members,”

Curious about the AmeriCorps program for yourself or someone you know?
