CEO Build 2019 Hammers Away!

“Habitat is a great organization to work with. This is a very rewarding experience for me personally to come out and do this for a day.” – Joe Ellis, President and CEO of the Denver Broncos

Coinciding with our 40th anniversary, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver hosted over 40 of Denver’s top C-Level executives for our 6th annual CEO Build on September 26th.  Among these business leaders was the event co-host Joe Ellis, President of the Denver Broncos. Ellis, who has attended every CEO Build since the beginning, was there to welcome the participating business leaders for a day of building affordable homes alongside local, hardworking families.

In addition to future homeowners and hardworking volunteers, a special appearance was also made by Colorado Governor Jared Polis. There to show support, Polis remarked on how important the opportunity to purchase affordable homes is for local workforces. Colorado is the 5th most expensive state for housing which means the need in our community is staggering. “These are fine homes that families can be proud to raise their kids in.” – Jared Polis, Colorado Governor.

This was the first CEO Build event at our Swansea Homes community, a 1.26 acre development that more than 144 adults and children will call home once it’s completed. Building alongside the CEOs was future homeowner and single mother of two, Regina. Regina works full time as a Laboratory Processor for Denver Health and lives in an expensive, overcrowded apartment with extended family. By partnering with Habitat Metro Denver, Regina is excited to build and purchase a home for her family. Soon her children will have their own rooms, be closer to school, and have the safety and stability to thrive.

Habitat’s CEO Build continues to be a great opportunity for business leaders to dedicate a day to work outside of the office and give back to their community. Thank you to all of this year’s CEO Build participants for helping Habitat build homes, communities and hope!
